2000 Student Silversmiths
Competition Entry Form
This form can be duplicated. All entries must be postmarked by OCTOBER 31, 2000.

 
Criteria

The entry must have been created while a student in any degree or non-credit course in the United States, between November 1, 1998, and October 31, 2000. Graduates from 1999 and 2000 are also eligible. Winners will be announced by December 31, 2000.

The object (holloware, flatware, or sculpture) must contain at least 50% sterling or fine silver. Sorry, jewelry is not accepted. The entrant must do at least 90% of the work on the piece. Spinning and engraving may be carried out by other craftsmen, and must be indicated in the description of how the piece was created. All slides will be retained for the archives and publicity. Winners will be required to send black & white photographs for publicity. Don't forget your signature at the end of this form.

What To Send

* Each student may submit up to three entries represented by one or two slides each.
* Label each slide with: your name, the entry#, object, title, materials, dimensions & date created.
* Put a red dot in the lower left hand corner and a black arrow in the upper right corner.
* Place all slides in one protective plastic slide sheet.
* On a separate page per entry, TYPE or PRINT your name, the entry#, object, title, materials, dimensions, and date created at the top of the page, and no more than 500 words how the piece was created—what techniques and tools you used, design inspiration, concepts, approximate time it took, any work that was contracted out, etc. You may also want to include any impact your teacher had on the entry's creation.

* Do not staple pages together or to slide sheet.
* SASE (legal size) for receipt of notification
* $20 entry fee (check made out to SAS)
* Optional: Join SAS at a discount! A special Associate membership price of $15 (normally $20) is offered with this competition. Add $15 to the entry fee check. (Winners will have their membership extended one year if they have taken advantage of this opportunity).
